The Oz Effect, Part One In an A.R.G.U.S. base Metallo is tortured and dismantled. Mr Oz appears and removes Metallo's kryptonite heart apparently killing him. Mr Oz then states that tomorrow Superman will see humanity "for the sick, tragic, perverted, and twisted organism it is." The next day see sees Superman rescuing a shipment of smallpox vaccine which he delivers to Logamga. In the crowd people with Mr. Oz's symbol ask why Maggie is trying to save the man who stole the vaccine. Mr Oz then presents 'options' at many different locations around the globe. Superman goes from location to location trying to stave off disaster but in some cases is too late. Superman is confronted by Mr Oz in Logamga where the village he delivered the vaccine to has been wiped out by guerrillas. Mr Oz then teleports them both to Superman's Fortress of Solitude where Mr. Oz claims he is Jor-El.
