Synopsis

Life, Liberty And The Pursuit Of Lunatik! Deciding to work together as a team to stop the Lunatik, the Defenders seek the advice of ESU drama professor Turk for ideas on how to lure the Lunatik out of hiding. Suggesting that they put up a statue of a scoff-law, the group decides to use Nighthawk's resources to commission and advertised a statue of Spider-Man, which they would hope arouse the curiosity of Spider-Man and hopefully in turn draw out the Lunatik. While in Russia, the Presence is lamenting over his rejection by the Red Guardian, and travels into the Forbidden Area, a location devastated by nuclear explosion to seek purpose. While back in the States, when J. Johna Jameson learns of the unveiling of the Spider-Man statue, he sends Peter Parker to take pictures. Curious about the statue himself, Peter decides to investigate it himself as Spider-Man. Spidey runs into Hellcat who tells him the Defenders plan, and Spider-Man agrees to help them. As planned, Lunatik shows up however, he gives the Defenders quite the fight and still manages to escape them. During the confrontation the Spider-Man statue is unveiled and revealed to be a rather hideous modernist sculpture of the web-slinger.
